Chinese restaurants come and go, with many adding Thai and Japanese to their menus, but Warwick’s Han Palace at 2470 West Shore Road stays true to its Hunan, Szechuan and Cantonese styles.

With one of the largest menus in Rhode Island, it would take you a lifetime to try the many specialties and combination plates.

On our last visit Joyce enjoyed the shrimp in garlic sauce ($13.95) complete with Chinese vegetables, including lots of broccoli.

I chose the shrimp curry, in a tasty curry sauce and lots of sweet onions ($13.50). If you are an onion lover, and I am, this is the meal for you. I brought a large portion home and ate them with hamburgers the next evening.

You’ll find all the usual dishes—lo mein, egg foo young, chow mein, General Tso’s chicken—on the menu, arranged in the usual categories of beef, pork, chicken and shrimp.

You’ll also find a large selection of fish dishes, plus mei fun, a rice stick noodle dish with a slightly different texture and taste.

Luncheon combination plates are large and are in the $7 to $8 range.

They also have a long list of appetizers, including huge, steamed dumplings ($8.50). We found the meat inside to be very good, but the dough a bit overwhelming.

Han Palace is open for dining and take-out Sunday through Thursday from 11:30 a.m. to 10 p.m. and Friday and Saturday from 11:30 a.m. to 11 p.m.
