Starting with a hand cranked mimeograph machine and a second hand typewriter, The Reminder began weekly production from the Stevens' family's rural farmhouse in Coventry Center. From the very beginning they worked to publish the best “total market coverage” advertising paper - distributed FREE to nearly every home, every week, by the U. S. Mail.

Today, The Reminder is still a locally-owned and operated enterprise. In February, 2018, Peter and Amey Stevens sold their publication to John Howell, the owner and publisher of Beacon Communications in Warwick, RI. The Reminder has grown to cover all of Coventry, Hope, West Greenwich and most of West Warwick, as well as neighboring towns. In 2024, Joy Fox acquired  Beacon Communications. The Remidner is now operated by Beacon Media.
