Edward F. Curtis III, 91, who died Wednesday, January 16, 2019 at the Brentwood Nursing Home in Warwick, was the beloved husband of Shirley E. (Leuba) Curtis. Ed and Shirley celebrated their 68th wedding anniversary on June 10, 2018.
Born in Warwick to Edward F. Curtis Jr. and Mildred (Grove) Curtis, he served in the United States Navy and had resided in Coventry for over 60 years. A graduate of Bryant College, he worked as a bookkeeper for General Dynamics, Electric Boat Division. Ed was a member of East Greenwich United Methodist Church; previously of Shepherd of the Valley United Methodist Church, Scituate. Since being raised a Master Mason on May 22, 1959, he belonged to Manchester Lodge #12 F&AM, Coventry. He served also as a Dad for Byron Northup DeMolay Chapter.
Aside from his wife, Shirley, he is survived by two children: Jeffrey Curtis of Bristol, CT and Laurie Lovgren (husband John) of Warwick, RI; three granddaughters: Kirsten Morrissey, Leah Lovgren and Megan Curtis and four great-grandchildren. He was predeceased by his brother, Robert Curtis, whose wife, Marilyn, lives in Colorado.
A graveside service will be held on Saturday, January 19, 2018 at 11:00 a.m. in Quidnessett Memorial Cemetery, 6365 Post Road, North Kingstown. Burial followed.
